Wilderness of Forgiveness

Join Illuman New Mexico for this weekend retreat where we will take a deep inward dive, an expedition, into forgiveness. Together we will contemplate aspects of forgiveness and learn how it could be possible to forgive ourselves and others as we make progress toward becoming healed and whole human beings.

Illuman New Mexico honors the many wisdom traditions of the world in our aspiration to become whole healthy men. It seems that all wisdom traditions place emphasis on the seismic benefit of forgiveness in our journey as human beings. We agree with Jack Kornfield as he states, "Forgiveness is not weak. It demands courage and integrity. Yet only forgiveness and love can bring about the peace we long for." So many of us can relate to this inner longing for a lasting peace. Therefore our weekend together incorporates active participation though a variety of sharing, individual and group contemplation and most importantly active participation to move toward forgiveness of ourselves and others.

This will be an experiential retreat – not a traditional lecture based event. Although a path and structure for this retreat has been developed, the men in attendance will determine the actual route through the weekend by what each contributes on a minute to minute basis. Each brother is invited to bring all of who they are – to show up with open heart, wisdom, curiosity, courage and, yes, grief, fear, skepticism, sadness, self doubt, even anger. It all belongs! All men (minimum age 21) are invited.

We need new ways of thinking and being to engage with others though our simple humanity and even our brokenness, our differences and our complexity---because these are what we do have in common.

A Spring Within Us - Richard Rohr

An excursion into the underworld is one hell of an adventure and your Wild Indigenous One knows and loves sacred adventures of all kinds...and from the West facet of the Self, metamorphoses can occur in new, startling and life-enhancing ways that are deeply good for the person and the planet.
